Job Summary:
This employee is responsible for training and assisting consumers in the development of vocational, social, recreation, and daily living skills in the community.  The employee will assist consumers with job development and coaching in the community, finding housing, participation in community based social and recreational activities, and the development of natural supports.  The employee will implement program activities tailored to meet the therapeutic and rehabilitative needs of the consumer.  This includes documenting and monitoring the outcomes of consumer objectives, teaching skills associated with the activities of daily living, community integration, physical health, and self-help.  The employee must demonstrate excellent public relation skills.  He/She will need to build strong relationships with consumers, potential consumers, and community representatives of vocational, housing, recreational, and natural supports resources.  Must demonstrate the competency to work directly with developmentally disabled and mentally ill adults and children with severe emotional disturbance (SED).

Job Qualifications:
1. At minimum of a High School Diploma or G.E.D is required.

2. Experience in working with MI, DD, and SED consumers is desired.

3. The employee is required to become a certified Employment Training Specialist at the employer’s expense within 12 months of being in this position.

4. Must possess a valid driver’s license and provide own transportation to and from meetings and activities at varying work locations including all agency locations in Lake, Mason, and Oceana Counties.

5. Must be certified in First Aid and CPR.

6. Lived experiences with mental illness/developmental disabilities/substance use disorders are valued.
